Patriots do not expect RB Taylor to be sidelined for entire season

After having surgery Thursday to repair ligament damage in his right ankle at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, the New England Patriots running back Fred Taylor hopes that he will be able to play some games of this season for his team. So does Coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick said Friday that the team plans to list Taylor on the injury report weekly and they will not place the running back on injured reserve to end his season until it becomes obviously that Taylor is not going to come back. And Taylor has told reporters that he would bounce back stronger and not expect to be sideline for the entire season. More information will be know after he meets with the doctor again.

The 33-year-old Taylor spent his first 11 years of NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars and joined the Patriots in the offseason with a two-year contract. With 45 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns in four games, he has become the team’s leading rusher.
