Dolphins LB Porter and G Smiley remain limited in practice

The Miami Dolphins will play at San Diego against the Chargers on Sunday. Although linebacker Joey Porter is still nursing a sore right hamstring and Smiley is sustaining a shoulder injury, Coach Tony Sparano is hopeful that both Porter and Smiley will be able play the game.

Both Porter and Smiley had limited participation in Friday’s practice, but Sparano said that they are getting better.

“Joey didn’t do too much today,” Sparano said. “I kept his reps down a little bit. Justin was limited as well, but he did a little bit more.”

In fact the two are still listed as questionable for the game and they both have backups for the game. Newcomer Cameron Wake will take the chance if Porter is to be ruled out. As a two-time winner of the CFL’s top defensive player award, Wake need the chance to prove his ability. Also, veteran Joe Berger could have been waiting for more playing time as Smiley’s backup.
